2. COMPOSITION/INFORMATION ON INGREDIENTS

Substances representing a hazard for the health (according to 2001/59/CE Directive): NO

3. HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION OF THE PREPARATION

The product is not classified as a dangerous preparation, according to EC criteria, but its powder form may give some troubles.

Inhalation (see § 4) : fine powders may cause irritation to the respiratory tract;
at high temperatures the product burns and may produce smoke (see § 5) that may irritate the respiratory tract, cause cough and breathlessness.
Eye Contact (see § 4) : fine powders may cause irritation of the eye mucosa.
Skin Contact (see § 4) : fine powders may cause irritation to most sensible part of the skin.
Ingestion (see § 4) : polyolefines are biologically inert.
Environmental Impact : the product is not considered dangerous for the environment; no appreciable biodegradation is expected.
Fire-fighting (see § 5) : if in contact with flame, the product burns and gives smoke.
Powders may accumulate electrostatic charges by friction; the discharge of those may give sparks that are a potential risk of primer for a fire or, with particular conditions of energy and powder concentration, for an explosion.

4. FIRST-AID MEASURES

General : In all cases of doubt, or when symptoms persist, seek medical attention. Never give anything by mouth to
an unconscious person.
Inhalation : Remove to fresh air, keep patient warm and rest. If breathing is irregular or stopped, administer artificial
respiration. Give nothing by mouth. If unconscious, place in recovery position and seek medical advice.
Eye contact : Contact lenses should be removed. Flush copiously with clean, fresh water for at least 10 minutes,
holding the eyelids apart. Seek medical advice.
Skin contact : Remove contaminated clothing. Wash skin thoroughly with soap and water or use recognised skin
cleanser. DO NOT use solvents or thinners.
Ingestion : If accidentally swallowed obtain immediate medical attention. Keep at rest. DO NOT induce vomiting.

5. FIRE-FIGHTING MEASURES

The product burns, but it is not classified as flammable

Extinguishing media : water fog or fine spray, fire extinguishing powder, CO2-blanket, alcohol resistant foam, avoiding high
pressure inert gas (e.g. CO2) or water jets, in order to not stir up the powder. Use water fine spray to cool
closed containers or walls exposed to fire.
Recommendations : the fire-fighters must wear appropriate breathing apparatus and protective clothing.
Do not allow run-off from fire fighting to enter drains or water courses.
Combustion Products : if the combustion is complete and occurs with excess of air, the smoke contains carbon dioxide (CO2) and
water (H2O). Dense smoke is emitted when the product burns without sufficient oxygen; the combustion is not completed and the smoke may contain, in addition to carbon dioxide (CO2) and water (H2O), carbon monoxide (CO), soot and irritating combustion products of varying composition, like aldehydes, ketones, hydrocarbons, volatile fat acids.

6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES

Exclude sources of ignition and ventilate the area. Exclude non-essential personnel. Avoid breathing dust. Refer to protective measures listed in sections 7 and 8. All spillage must be removed to prevent slipping accidents. Contain and collect spillage with an electrically protected vacuum cleaner or by wet brushing and place in container for disposal according to local regulations (see section 13) . Do not use a dry brush as dust clouds can be created. Do not allow to enter drains or watercourses. If the product contaminates lakes, rivers or sewage, inform appropriate authorities in accordance with local regulations.

7. HANDLING AND STORAGE

Person suffering from respiratory problems or allergic response should not be expose to, or handle, powders.
Handling
Precautions should be taken to prevent the formation of dust in concentrations above flammable, explosive or occupational exposure limits.
Electrical equipment and lighting should be protected to appropriate standards to prevent dust coming into contact with hot surfaces, sparks or ignition sources.
Preparation may charge electrostatically: always use earthing leads when transferring from one container to another. Operators should wear antistatic footwear and clothing and floors should be of conducting type.
Keep containers tightly closet. Isolate from sources of heat, sparks and open flame.
Smoking, eating and drinking should be forbidden in application area.

Storage
Observe label precautions. Store in a dry, well-ventilated place away from sources of heat, ignition and direct sunlight. No smoking. Prevent unauthorized access. Containers which are opened must be carefully resealed and kept upright to prevent leakage.

8. EXPOSURE CONTROLS/PERSONAL PROTECTION

Engineering measures
Avoid inhalation of dust. Where reasonably practicable this should be achieved by the use of local exhaust.
Personal protection
Respiratory protection: when workers are facing dust concentrations above the exposure limits:
• respirable powders US (ACGIH-2001): TLV – 8h TWA = 3 mg/m3
• inhalable powders US (ACGIH-2001): TLV – TWA = 10 mg/m3
they must use appropriate certified respirators (P1 grade) being effective against this type of material.
Hand protection: for prolonged or repeated contact use barrier cream or suitable gloves.
Eye protection: safety eyewear should be used when there is a likelihood of exposure.
Skin protection: personnel should wear protective clothing and all parts of the body should be washed after contact. Care should be taken in the selection of protective clothing, to ensure that inflammation and irritation of the skin at neck and wrists through contact with the powder is avoided.
Other: personnel should wear antistatic shoes or boots.

10. STABILITY AND REACTIVITY

The product is stable under recommended storage and handling conditions (see section 7), with no chemical reactions.
When exposed to high temperatures hazardous decomposition products may be produced (see section 5).
The powder, mixed with the specific quantity of air , may give an explosive mixture (see section 3).
Prevent contact with hot surfaces, spark and flame and with strong oxidants too.

11. TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION

Polyolefines are biologically inert products and therefore they are not hazardous for the health.
The product, like every kind of powder, should not be inhalated (see section 8); they can cause localised skin irritation in folds of the skin or in contact with tight clothing.

12. ECOLOGICAL INFORMATION

Mobility and Bioaccumulation Potential no bioconcentration is expected because of the relatively high molecular weight (MW>1000)
Air : the product has a very low volatility and no evaporation
Soil : in the terrestrial environment the material is expected to remain in the soil
Water : the powder floats, does neither melt in water nor give any component to water , nor to raining water.
Persistence and Degradability surface photodegradation is expected with exposure to sunlight; no appreciable biodegradation is expected
Environmental Toxicity no appreciable acute toxicity is expected for all living organisms.

13. DISPOSAL CONSIDERATIONS

Do not allow to enter drains or water courses. Wastes and empty containers should be disposed of without creating dust, according to local legislation.

14. TRANSPORT INFORMATION

In general these powders can be transported without restrictions and are not classified for any mode of transportation.

15. REGULATORY INFORMATION

In accordance with EC-directive 2001/59/CE the product is labelled as follows:
Danger classification: none
S(afety) phrase(s) : S20/21 : When using do not eat, drink or smoke.
S22 : Do not breathe dust
S38 : In case of insufficient ventilation, wear suitable respiratory equipment.
